So who has used ChatGPT to write their property descriptions?
If you've been living under a rocl the last few months then you might be interested to learn there's a new AI copy writing platform called ChatGPT that by all accounts, knows everything on the internet, and can answer questions, give advice, write stories, poems, raps, dittys and all manor of language based tasks. It's extremely clever, and all be it, rather scary.
We asked ourselves how it might come in useful for property and asked Neil Whitfield, Specialist Property Copywriter, to give his opinion on ChatGPT and how AI might/or might not be useful to property marketers:
"I've spent hours with various AI copywriting programs and at best they churn out bland, cliché ridden copy that's no better than the vanilla fare that many agents are already writing themselves.The main issue is the AI may be OK at parroting the info you give it about the location and/or the property features but don't get anywhere near tapping into the emotional change that ultimately drives every move. Nor can it weave a compelling story about the nuances of an area that may make it attractive for someone to move there - how could it? Good property listing copy should be centered around the pain the buyer/tenant is looking to remove or the new pleasure they are looking to bring into their lives. For now the AI doesn't come close to 'getting' this - believe me I spent hours trying to 'train' a number of different platforms to do so!! So I suppose if you just want to push a button and have bland, generic copy plop in front of you in seconds then AI may save you time and tick the box of 'doing the lisiting copy' But if you're looking to actually use your listing words to attract and engage with your ideal buyer or tenant you're still going to have to learn how to do it yourself or outsource to a human..."
So there we have it... we gave it a go and found much the same. That said....if you want your property descriptions to rhyme - then we might well have a contender 😅 (See video below!)
